In the summer of 2017 I went to the Hell Creek Formation in North Dakota for a Dinosaur Dig!
About this Project
In the summer of 2017 I went to Marmoth, North Dakota to experience a real-life dinosaur dig. Accompanied by 4 classmates and my paleontology professor, we met up with 2 of his former students who now run a Paleontology Dig site in the Hell Creek formation.
During this week I had the opportunity to unearth part of a newly discovered T-Rex Jaw, I helped to excavate several previously discovered Tricerotops and Hadrosaur remains, and I got to visit the original resting place of most complete hadrosaur skeleton ever discovered.
In addition to excavating dinosaur bones, I gained experience using a Trimble GPS unit, created a GIS map of the dig sites, attended a paleonotology meetup, and watched classic dinosaur films under the badlands night sky.
